Community involvement

Community investment fund

Community Investment Fund (CIF) was created to have a positive impact in local communities in which the Society operates and assist those causes that would otherwise fall outside the Charitable Foundation's criteria.

Our support is focussed on local communities through a combination of financial giving, voluntary activities, linking/working with community groups and enterprises eg, schools, sports clubs and local authorities.

Please contact your local branch if you believe our Community Investment Fund could make a difference to a community group/project in your local area. In seeking to ensure we cover as wide an area as possible, we limit the grants to small amounts – usually no more than £300.

Staff involvement

Feedback from our staff and members gives wholehearted approval of us playing an active role in the local community. We do this through involvement with the Charitable Foundation and through various employee volunteer initiatives. We work closely with the community providing hands-on help. For example, two teams of our senior managers completed a community challenge involving repainting the exterior of a building used by a local group and clearing an overgrown garden at a local Town Hall and Community Centre. Staff also provide business mentoring help to charities
