New Security Measure

During September we introduced our new transaction confirmation service, an additional security measure for certain online transactions.

This service provides additional security through an automated call using a phone number you have registered with us and on which you can be contacted at the time of the transaction.

Charitable Foundation

The Charitable Foundation was established as the focal point for all the Yorkshire Building Society's charitable giving. The Foundation supports charities and good causes throughout the UK - demonstrating the value and support the Yorkshire provides to communities where members and staff live and work.

The Foundation is a registered charity, run by 5 trustees - 3 of whom are independent of the Society. The Trustees decide which causes to support - and generally limit support to other registered charities or established good causes.

Since its first donation in 1999 the Foundation has given away over £3 million
Over 9,000 good causes have received a donation
In 2008, over £400,000 was donated to nearly 2,000 good causes
Over 80% of the donations made so far in 2009 have been nominated by the Society's members
