Charitable Foundation

The Charitable Foundation was established as the focal point for all the Yorkshire Building Society’s charitable giving.  The Foundation supports charities and good causes throughout the UK – demonstrating the value and support the Yorkshire provides to communities where members and staff live and work.

The Foundation is a registered charity, run by 5 trustees – 3 of whom are independent of the Society.  The Trustees decide which causes to support – and generally limit support to other registered charities or established good causes.

• Since its first donation in 1999 the Foundation has given away over £2.5 million
• Over 5,000 good causes have received a donation
• In 2006, almost £300,000 was donated to over 1,100 good causes
• Over 90% of the donations made so far in 2007 have been nominated by the Society's members
