Charity in the community

The Yorkshire Building Society is determined to be a valuable part of the community by helping members to buy and own their own homes and encouraging others to save. But our commitment goes further than this.

We're also with you one hundred percent in helping to support worthwhile causes. We concentrate on the causes our members think are important and invite you to make suggestions and get involved.

The main focus for the Society's charitable giving is the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation which provides financial assistance to small local charities and good causes.

The Foundation concentrates on helping the elderly, vulnerable people including children and those with special needs and suffering hardship. To date, it has supported over hundreds of good causes both locally and nationally.

Small Change, Big Difference

The Society makes it easy for members to support the work of the Foundation through the 'Small Change, Big Difference' scheme.

By agreeing to donate the pennies in interest accrued on their accounts, members are able to help many good causes. The maximum annual donation for mortgage and savings accounts will never exceed 99 pence - but even this small amount, when added up and multiplied by hundreds of thousands of members, does make a difference.

If you have more than one account with the Yorkshire and you wish to take part, you can specify from which account your donation is to be collected - or any number of accounts if you wish to give up to 99p from each. Further details are available at your local branch.
