The Yorkshire Building Society is a mutual organisation and for the sake of members we wish to avoid disruption to our business caused by speculators. For this reason, we have taken steps to discourage such speculation through the Society's Charitable Assignment.
All new customers opening a savings account or applying for a mortgage, which confers membership of the Society, are required to agree to assign any windfall conversion benefits to which they might become entitled to the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation. This agreement will continue for a period of five years from the date the account is opened or the mortgage completed. The member will be entitled to keep any windfall conversion benefits that may arise after that date.
Existing members who held a membership on April 8th 1998 and who continue to do so are not affected and may open new accounts without being required to sign this agreement.
