Home insurance - general exclusions
These general exclusions apply to all household insurance policies unless otherwise indicated:
- The first £100 of each incident except:
- Subsidence claims, on which the first £1,000 is excluded.
- Legal liability claims.
- Where you have agreed to take on an additional voluntary excess in addition to the standard £100 policy excess.
- Loss or damage to gates, hedges or fences by storms.
- Where your home is unoccupied for more than 60 consecutive days:
- loss or damage by theft, escape of water or oil, or malicious acts or vandalism.
- accidental breakage of fixed glass and sanitary fixtures.
- damage caused by freezing of water in fixed water or heating systems or water or oil escaping from washing machines, dishwashers, fixed water or fixed heating systems.
- Radioactive contamination.
- War risks.
- Sonic bangs.
- Pollution or contamination.
- Riot.
- Date change and computer viruses.
- Existing and deliberate damage.
- Terrorism.
- Wear and tear, depreciation and normal deterioration.
- Defective construction or design.
