How would your family cope if you were diagnosed with a critical illness? What if you had to give up work and lost your income? Critical illness cover can offer you added peace of mind when you need it the most, all from just £6 a month. The Yorkshire Building Society have teamed up with Legal & General to offer you critical illness cover.
Legal & General's Defaqto 5 Star rated critical illness product is a term insurance policy with critical illness cover included. This means that the policy could provide a lump sum to help you and your family financially if you were to die, or be diagnosed with one of the specified critical illnesses covered during its term. You can be covered up to age 70 as long as you are under age 63 when you take out the policy. And because family is so important, your children will be covered too (conditions apply). For full details please read the Guide To Critical Illness Cover PDF before applying.

A wide variety of conditions are covered.
There are two premium options available, guaranteed and reviewable. Guaranteed premiums are premiums that stay the same unless you alter your policy. So you always know what your costs will be.
Reviewable premiums mean your premium is guaranteed for the first five years of the policy. Reviews will be carried out to determine whether the premium will be changed at the fifth anniversary and every five years after. This is to establish if the premium you're paying is enough to provide the level of cover selected.
Legal & General will assess any premium change fairly. When they review your premium, the factors they look at are:
Your current state of health is not a factor at review.
Legal & General will write to tell you about the outcome of your review and will tell you at least three months in advance about the options you have and what action you may have to take.
It's important to make sure that the level of cover still meets your needs, as the option you select can’t be changed at a later date.
Before you apply for a policy please ensure you read the Key Features Document PDF and Guide To Critical Illness Cover PDF carefully, to help make sure the plan meets your needs.
