BANK RATE CHANGE
On 2 November 2017, the Bank of England announced that the Bank Base Rate would increase with immediate effective from 0.25% to 0.50%.
Yorkshire Building Society Group has been named as one of the best places to work in the UK by a global research organisation.
The mutual was ranked as the 28th best large business by the consultancy Great Place to Work in its annual assessment of trust and engagement in workplaces across a variety of sectors.
It is the first time the Group has taken part in the assessment, which features some of the UK’s most well-known brands.
Jane Hanson, Chief People Officer at Yorkshire Building Society Group, said:
It is a real honour and great achievement for the Group to be recognised as one of the UK’s best workplaces. This is evidence of the hard work and commitment shown by all of our colleagues in creating a positive working environment.
Not only do we have a wealth of experience and talent within our business, we’re also lucky enough to employ colleagues who go out of their way to make the Group a friendly and welcoming place to work. It’s our people that set us apart and they are the ones who will continue helping us to grow and achieve our vision of becoming the most trusted provider of financial services in the UK.
The ranking comprises an employee survey and an audit of an organisation’s management and HR practices. The award recognises the strength of leadership and the range of innovative, creative and effective HR policies which create a successful workplace culture.
In the survey, 90% of Group colleagues said that they felt good about the ways Yorkshire Building Society Group contributes to the community through its Society Matters corporate responsibility programme.
The Group has developed a recognition framework that includes a group-wide awards programme to celebrate colleagues who are true ambassadors of our values.
The Group also recently launched a new scheme which included significant improvements to its Maternity, Paternity, Adoption and flexible working policies.
Tom O’Byrne, Chief Executive of Great Place to Work, said:
We are delighted that Yorkshire Building Society Group has been recognised as a Best Workplace, and in their first year, which is a great achievement. Employees really appreciate the fact that the company strives to give their customers the best experience possible and that they are empowered to do just that.
It is heartening to see a financial services organisation that puts purpose before profit and in so doing creates the kind of culture where employees are trusted and empowered to deliver great customer service, and where success is recognised and rewarded.
