Investment Planning Service

A balanced approach to investing

What do you want from your investments? Chances are that there is no simple, straightforward answer. In truth, no single investment is likely to satisfy all your needs. That's why we're here - to help you choose the ones that are best for you.

You may wish to consider dividing your money between short-term flexibility and the potential for long-term growth. If you think about it, you probably don't need all your cash immediately to hand. As long as you have enough money for your everyday needs, and a bit put by in case the unexpected ever happens, the rest could be invested for growth potential over the medium to long-term.

You should be aware that these investments are different to the savings accounts offered by the Yorkshire, because of the underlying assets used to deliver a return on your money. They are also unsuitable as short-term investments. Although there is the potential for higher returns, neither your capital nor the returns are guaranteed, and the value of your investment may go down as well as up. You could therefore get back less than you invest. However the Capital Protection Bond provides a capital guarantee at the 10th anniversary.

Why Legal & General?

To add to our own expertise and product range, we have chosen to work with Legal & General, one of the leading companies with experience in financial services since 1836. Over 5.6 million people rely on them for products such as investments and pensions and they are one of the UK's top 50 companies in the FTSEŽ 100 index.

What the service offers you

  • A wider range of investment opportunities, brought to you from Yorkshire Building Society and Legal & General working together.
  • More choices to satisfy your individual needs.
  • The combination of short-term savings and the potential for long-term growth.

You can talk to a Legal & General Adviser either at your local branch or by phone at your convenience. Alternatively, they can visit you at home. The Adviser will take the time to find out about your current savings and investments and what you want your money to achieve in the future. This will help to identify suitable products for your needs.

Through the Investment Planning Service you have access to a wide range of investments including:

  • New Capital Protection Bond
  • A range of Legal & General ISAs (Individual Savings Accounts) that complement our ISAs and allow you to invest tax-efficiently in stocks and shares as well as cash.
  • Unit Trusts that provide access to the growth and income potential of stocks and shares.
  • Investment bonds that allow diversified investments into shares, fixed interest securities, UK commercial property and cash.

You will have the option of combining investments designed for money you can leave untouched for five years or more, with shorter term investments.

As an option within the Investment Planning Service, Yorkshire Building Society has developed a competitive savings account, the Yorkshire Building Society Tiered Rate Savings Bond, which may form part of your total plan.
