When we decided to remain mutual, our board considered how members should share in our success. Many options were considered including loyalty bonuses and the payment of dividends. In the end, it was decided that surplus profits could best be used by simply giving better rates to both savers and borrowers.
Our mortgage rate is pitched at a level below that of many rivals and has resulted in substantial savings for borrowers. Our savings rates are set to ensure that our members receive excellent value for the long term. In addition we guarantee that rates paid on accounts no longer available to savers will be at least as good as those paid to new investors. In contrast to some building societies and banks, we don't use short-term gimmicks to attract business.
At the Yorkshire we work constantly to enhance our customer service. Our Service Quality Department ensures that our high standards are not only maintained, but also improved.
We aim to attract and keep members who want long term benefits by continually improving those benefits. This is done by providing excellent products and service, good communication through all distribution channels and a high level of security.
