We never forget we’re part of the community. In our branches and offices, you’ll find evidence of our support in the surrounding area.
This extends far beyond just giving donations. We give everyone in the Society the opportunity to take one day's paid leave a year to get involved in a local project - something many of our staff believe in passionately.
Our staff play an active role in the community, both through involvement with the Charitable Foundation and through various employee volunteering initiatives.
We work closely with Business in the Community and take part in the Right to Read scheme supporting local school children with one to one reading.
We also work regularly with local community groups, providing hands on experience, such as transforming an unused area of land for a school by creating a woodland path and installing benches.
As of June 2007, over £2.3m has been donated through the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation since its launch, helping hundreds of people around the UK.
