Accord Mortgages
A subsidiary of the Society, Accord Mortgages provides mortgages through intermediaries (eg mortgage brokers and Independent Financial Advisers). They have their own management team, processing, call centre and sales functions.

They help run our financial risk management processes, recommending methodologies and providing creative input to product development and the funding and investment processes.

Branch Sales & Operations Retail Planning
By promoting products and making sales more effectively, they help us keep our existing members and attract new ones.

Business change
Business change is set up to improve the way we carry out larger projects, in particular those, that involve innovation and allow us to adapt more quickly to changing customer demands.

Business to Business
Through research into opportunities with third parties, they find ways to promote the Society – usually by offering our skills and resources to other organisations to generate non-interest income and reinforce the benefits of mutuality.

Corporate Affairs
Reinforcing and promoting our brand values, products and services through the media they act as our spokesperson, raising our profile and building awareness of the benefits of mutuality.

Corporate Business
Their purpose is to be demonstrably the best employee benefits provider in the UK and overseas. They also help make sure all members are aware of the products and services of benefit to them.

Corporate Planning
This department helps the corporate planning processes, including budgeting, making sure we can deliver our aims and values.

Corporate Projects
This department project manages the portfolio of major corporate wide initiatives, working on a cross-functional basis.

E-Commerce
As well as developing and securing our electronic distribution channels, they manage the content and personality of our website.

Facilities
It’s up to this department to make sure our buildings and other assets are managed cost effectively and are fit for purpose.

Group Finance
They provide us with financial reporting, planning and consultancy services to help us make decisions. It’s also their responsibility to produce the financial information needed to maintain statutory compliance.

Group Risk
It’s their responsibility to ensure that the right laws and regulations are incorporated into our products and processes. They also provide a consultation service for all aspects of our business to ensure liabilities arising from current, past and future regulations and laws are considered.

Group Legal
This department provides a proactive and cost effective legal service to the organisation. They look after our relationships with external lawyers and monitor their effectiveness and performance. Another responsibility is to provide an efficient secretarial service, including the development of member involvement.

Group Tax
It’s their responsibility to manage the overall cost of taxation to the organisation.

Human Resources
As well as recruiting and retaining our employees, Human Resources help us provide them with the right skills to ensure they have job satisfaction and we can operate effectively. They also manage all ‘people-related’ issues, including HR administration.

Information Technology
It’s this department that designs, develops and maintains the architecture and systems management processes to support new and existing channels of business.

They make sure we deliver what we promise to all members and achieve excellence in all areas of Investment Services.

Lending Services
It’s their responsibility to ensure the quality of our mortgage book is maintained. They also provide an excellent service to our members and business partners on all mortgage and insurance matters.

Marketing
It’s their responsibility to develop, implement and measure our marketing communications for our brand, products and services. They also provide member and market information through analysis and research.

Member Contact Centre
This is the point of contact for our existing and new members. And through our call centre we offer an excellent service by telephone and email.

Product Development
Taking a creative and structured approach, they develop, implement and manage our product portfolio – making sure we meet the long term needs of our members and achieve growth and profitability targets. They also identify opportunities to introduce new products.

Service Quality
Above all else, this department champions service excellence and supports our commitment to providing long-term value to our members. They do this through customer focused working processes and service management. This department also looks after our members who are experiencing issues with our products and services.

Treasury
By managing our activities within the wholesale financial markets, they support our objectives and manage our market reputation. They’re responsible for managing our shares, deposits and liabilities in line with the Building Societies Commission regulations.

Yorkshire Investment Services
By maintaining a portfolio of investments that contribute to our earnings, they make effective use of the capital and treasury management resources available to us.
