We asked the forum...
…what do you believe your role is?
"To be a critical friend. Support the aims and values of the Society but challenge its management to ensure value for members and the community it serves." Tim Parry.
"I believe the members of the Forum have a positive mandate from the Society to think clearly, constructively and creatively about the Society's needs, problems, products and expectations and to express those opinions either collectively or individually to the management." John Spence.
…do you get a clear picture of what's going on?
"The directors and staff are frank and open at all times, which is valued." Michael Westerman.
"Very much so! The executives of the Society have been very open and professional about the day-to-day operations and we have been given ample opportunity to see these in action." John Spence.
"The Society is forward looking and I have been impressed by the careful analysis by which decisions have been made, especially in difficult times." Kate Gray.
…do you feel your views are listened to?
"Yes - and I suspect 'policy makers', including the board, might now take into consideration the possible reaction of the Member Forum to be pretty certain they have 'got it right' – because we are a vocal lot!" Ian McArdle.
"The management team need to take comments and ideas from as many sources as they can. I do feel the Member Forum is one of them." Martin Hawkrigg.
