What’s changing for Egg customers

All the online services you enjoy as an Egg customer will be available plus a few extras that you didn’t have before. Here’s some of the main differences you’ll find when transacting online with the Yorkshire.

Logging in to your accounts

To ensure the security of your accounts, your Egg username and password will not be transferred to the Yorkshire. So, the first thing you’ll need to do is register new security details. It’s quick and easy. You’ll need to choose a username, confirm your date of birth and select a password.

Then, when you login you’ll go through 2 screens:

  • On the first you’ll enter your username (you can choose to bypass this page in future by checking the ‘Remember me’ box)
  • On the second you’ll select your date of birth from drop down boxes, and enter a random 3 characters from your password.
    Important: We will never ask for your full password online. If our login page appears to ask for your full password contact us immediately.

Register

Contacting us

Before contacting us for the first time, you’ll need to register with us. This is quick and easy, and we’ll guide you through the process.

Once you have registered:

  • Login and visit the Message Centre to send us a secure message at any time of the day or night.
  • Alternatively, if you’d prefer to speak to someone call 0845 1200 805. Our opening hours are 8am to 8pm Monday –Friday and 9am-1pm on Saturdays. If you call:
    • You’ll need to have your new 10 digit YBS account number to hand – this will allow us to deal with your query more efficiently
    • You’ll be asked to provide random characters from your password. Don’t worry – this is the same one you use to access your account online, and you will never be asked for the whole password.
  • Outside opening hours you can use our 24 hour automated telephone service by calling 0845 1200 805. This service is available 7 days a week and offers a range of options like password resets. Make sure you have your account number and password when you call.

Using your account

When you have logged in you will be able to view and transact on your accounts. You’ll also be able to update personal details and access the Message Centre to ask a question or send a secure message.

Carrying out a transaction

The first thing to do is select the account you want to access. You do this by clicking the 'Go' button next to the account.

Clicking 'Go' will show the balance and recent transactions for that account and, on the right hand side, other options that are available to you. For example, for most accounts you will be able to:

  • Add to your savings using your debit card
  • Transfer money to another account with us or to an external account
  • Manage a list of transfer accounts including naming any external accounts to make them easier to recognise
  • Change the name of the account to something easy to remember
  • Search transactions and view interest earned and tax paid
  • Register for gross interest if you are eligible or de-register if you are no longer eligible

Transaction confirmation service

To protect you and your savings, some transactions you carry out online use our transaction confirmation service. So, you’ll need to have the phone you have registered with Egg or us with you.

Money Manager

With the Yorkshire you will still be able to manage all your accounts in one place, whoever they are with.

If you previously used Money Manager with Egg, all the accounts you set up will still be in the Password Safe on your computer. So, those accounts will be available once you login.

Software update

Even though all your accounts will be stored securely in the Password Safe on your computer, you may need to download and install a small software update to start using Money Manager again. Once you have logged in, click on the link in the 'External Accounts' area to install this update.

Wider choice of browsers

You will be able to use Money Manager with a much wider range of browsers. These include Internet Explorer 7 & 8, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari. If you use more than one browser you’ll need to download the software update for each of them.
