Mental Health Awareness Week

As part of our Wellbeing programme and Time to Change Employer Pledge, we supported Mental Health Awareness Week.

This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week focused on stress – how to recognise it and reduce its impact. From the 14th – 18th May, our Mental Health and Wellbeing team and champions arranged activities including lunchtime walks, mindfulness sessions and webinars. They also released a variety of group-wide communications providing information and tips, as well as creating a discussion forum for colleagues to discuss and share tips about how to reduce their stress.

The week was a huge success with the main highlights being:

  • Nearly half of all colleagues viewed the internal wellbeing guides and mental health information.
  • Over 250 colleagues used Unmind, an online platform to help actively manage and improve their mental health.
  • More teams used our internal Wellbeing Toolkit to run activities in their meetings.
  • Over 200 colleagues and managers used the Mental Health Awareness Guide, which we developed in conjunction with the Mental Health Foundation.

The feedback has also been really positive, with one colleague saying “I think the work that YBS are doing on supporting wellbeing and mental health is fantastic and, personally, I really appreciate it. Thank you.”

We’ve also made the most of our partnership with Mental Health Foundation by promoting their materials through our social media channels. Through this we can also educate our members and the public on mental health.
