They require us, Yorkshire Building Society, to give you this important information to help you decide whether our e-ISA - Issue 3 account is right for you. You should read this document carefully so that you understand what you are buying, and then keep it safe for future reference.

The product terms should be read with the PDF Online General Terms and Conditions booklet (General Terms). Together the Product Terms and General Terms explain how your account works.

It is important that you read all the terms applicable before you decide whether to open this account. Terms 10, 11 & 14 of the PDF General Terms explain the circumstances in which we may change the interest rates, terms and conditions and PDF charges relating to your account, and how we will tell you about the changes. Section 2 of the General Terms also sets out additional terms for Cash ISA savers.

Please note that for security reasons, online withdrawals are not allowed for the first 14 days after your account has been opened.

Product terms

  1. To open an e-ISA - Issue 3, you must be aged 16 or over and resident in the UK for tax purposes, or a qualifying Crown employee or married to, or in a civil partnership with, a qualifying Crown employee. Accounts can only be held in your sole name.
    1. The minimum initial deposit is £10
    2. The maximum amount you can deposit is £5,760 this tax year (see ISAs explained). This is subject to change; HR Revenue & Customs review this every year and limits may change in the future. The maximum amount applies irrespective of any withdrawals you may make.
    3. If you deposit money in your e-ISA - Issue 3 in any tax year, you will not be able to deposit money in another Cash ISA in the same tax year
    4. Your initial e-ISA - Issue 3 deposit can be by cheque. Any cheques subsequently received will be returned to you.
    5. We do not accept Postal Orders
    6. Additional deposits (minimum amount £10) must be transfers, either from another bank or building society account, e.g. by standing order, or another account held with the Yorkshire. Deposits by account transfer will start to earn interest on the day they are credited to your account. To set up a standing order you need to quote the sort code 60-92-04 and your account number which is the first 8 digits of your account number. If you are asked for a reference number please quote the full 10 digits of your account number.
    7. If you open an e-ISA - Issue 3 and then change your mind within 14 days, we will close your account and repay your deposit, plus any interest you have earned. This interest will be subject to tax. You can then open another Cash ISA in the same tax year if you wish.
    8. For security reasons, online withdrawals are not available for the first 14 days after your account has been opened. After 14 days the minimum withdrawal of £10 can be made from your account at any time on condition that there are cleared funds in your account and that you maintain the minimum balance of £10. When you open an e-ISA - Issue 3 account, you will be asked to nominate a bank or building society account to which withdrawals will be sent.
    9. Withdrawals are allowed by logging on to our website to transfer to your nominated bank or building society account held elsewhere or with us., or by arranging an ISA transfer to another provider.
    10. Once you have withdrawn money from your Cash ISA, you cannot put it back in during the same tax year. For example, assuming a limit of £5,760, if you invest £500 in your Cash ISA and then withdraw £200, you will only be able to invest a further £5,260, i.e. up to the maximum investment allowance of £5,760. Similarly, if you invest your total Cash ISA allowance and then withdraw some money, you will not be able to put money back in to your Cash ISA in that tax year. If you decide to close your Cash ISA you cannot reinvest in another Cash ISA for the rest of that tax year.
  2. Interest is calculated daily based on the balance in your account, and will be added to your balance on 31 March each year and on closure. Interest will be paid free from tax unless you have breached HM Revenue & Customs rules.

  3. The HM Revenue & Customs rules allow you to transfer from one ISA provider to another. If you wish to transfer savings held in a Cash ISA elsewhere to an e-ISA - Issue 3, you will need to apply for an account first.

Once your e-ISA - Issue 3 has been opened, login to download a Transfer Request Form.

Please note: If you have already subscribed to another Cash ISA in the current tax year, please do not send an initial deposit with your completed application form.

  4. You will be able to check your balance and interest rate and view statements showing transactions on your account whenever you wish. Whenever we change the rate of interest applying to e-ISA - Issue 3, we will inform you by e-mail within 30 days of the change. It is important that you let us know if your e-mail address changes.

  5. You can change your contact details (postal address, email and telephone) when you are logged in. To change your name you will need to write, enclosing proof of the change, to Savings Service, Yorkshire Building Society, Yorkshire House, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD5 8LJ.

  6. Whilst e-ISA - Issue 3 offers many attractive features it is not based on the stakeholder minimum standards.

  7. If you open an e-ISA - Issue 3 account and subsequently change your mind up to 14 days after the date the account is opened, we will close your account and repay your deposit, plus any interest you have earned. You will then be able to save in another Cash ISA in that tax year.

Call us on 0845 1200 100 for more details about closing your account. Alternatively, you can write to Savings Service, Yorkshire Building Society, Yorkshire Drive, Bradford, BD5 8LJ.

  8. If at any time you're not satisfied with the service you've received, please let us know. We have a simple process enabling you to do this, the details of which are in our leaflet 'We're here to help you - our complaints process', which can be downloaded from this site, obtained at any of our branches or requested by calling us on 0845 1200 300.
