Charitable Foundation

Supporting charities and good causes in the UK

From giving individual donations to supporting annual campaigns, the Charitable Foundation is a registered charity that's always getting involved.

The heart of charitable giving

The Charitable Foundation is just one of the ways the Society gives something back to the communities where our members and employees live and work.

How the Charitable Foundation works

The Charitable Foundation is run by five trustees, including three who are independent of the Society. It's their happy job to decide which good causes will benefit from our support.

Here's how the Charitable Foundation has helped:

  • We've given away over £5.2 million since our first donation in 1999
  • We've given donations to over 15,500 good causes
  • We donated over £720,000 to around 2,000 good causes in 2012
  • Around 90% of donations we made in 2012 were to causes nominated by Society members

And we're continuing to do more and more. As well as individual donations, we also have a campaign every year - Make a Difference Week - which invites members of the Society to nominate charities and good causes to receive a small donation. This is funded by members who participate in the Society's Small Change, Big Difference™ scheme.
