Supporting charities and good causes in the UK

From giving individual donations to supporting annual campaigns, the Charitable Foundation is a registered charity that's always getting involved.

Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation

The Charitable Foundation was established in 1998 as a registered charity (number 1069082) and a company limited by guarantee. The Charitable Foundation is independent of the YBS Group and is run by two internal and three external trustees. It's their role to decide which good causes will receive support from the Charitable Foundation.

Since it made its first donation in 1999, the Charitable Foundation has made a difference to local communities across the UK by donating over £6 million via a total of 20,354 donations.

In 2014 the Charitable Foundation donated over £464,000 to charities and good causes, with 92% of donations given to causes nominated by Society customers and colleagues. Please see the two case studies below for examples of the impact the Charitable Foundation is having in our local communities.

The majority of the Charitable Foundation’s funding comes from Society members who participate in the Small Change Big Difference® scheme. Members can join at any time by filling in this form.
