The use of digital channels in our everyday lives has increased over the past few years.

OFCOM reports that 94% of UK adults personally own a mobile phone and 88% of UK households have the internet. The world as we know it is becoming more connected – you can video call your family back home while you’re holidaying in Spain or directly contact your favourite brands easily through social media, all of which makes our lives easier and more mobile.

Technology has also brought new opportunities for our members to engage with us, here at YBS. Currently you can open accounts online, manage your accounts through our secure online service and even use the same password you use for your online accounts when transacting with us over the telephone. This makes it much easier for you to manage your money or make new applications.

With all these advances in technology comes the increased risk of online crime.

A report by cyber security company Symantec found 17.4 million adults in the UK were affected by cybercrime of some form in 2017. With many people choosing to manage their finances and personal accounts online it is important you take the necessary steps to stay safe online.
