The Yorkshire Building Society Share Dealing Service is provided by Jarvis Investment Management Ltd, and is execution-only which means you won't get any advice on your investment decisions but gives you full control to manage your own portfolio and choose your own strategy. Whether you're an experienced investor or just wanting to sell a few shares, we have a range of accounts that allow you to trade quickly and easily by telephone, online or by post.

Trading account

The Trading Account offers online and telephone dealing, with shares held electronically on your behalf through a nominee service operated by Jarvis Investment Management Ltd. Your trades are automatically settled with funds taken from or paid into your Trading Account.

Your shares are held electronically so there is no need to worry about losing share certificates or missing settlement deadlines. All the administration and paperwork is taken care of for you making dealing quick, easy and hassle free. Jarvis will keep you informed by sending you:

  • Contract notes for every trade placed
  • Corporate actions notices affecting your holding such as takeovers and mergers
  • Regular valuation and transaction statements

Jarvis will collect all dividends due to you and will credit them to your Trading Account. When you open your account you will be able to choose how your dividends are handled including a dividend reinvestment option allowing you to elect to receive shares in lieu of your cash dividend.

How much does it cost?

The standard online dealing is £11.95 for all UK trades up to a deal value of £100,000. Once you have traded 50 times on your Trading Account you will move to a "loyalty rate" of just £8.95 flat rate per UK online trade (£14.95 for telephone trades). The great news is that you will remain on these low rates - unlike many brokers who offer a low frequent trader rate but then move you back to their standard rates if you don't continue to place the required number of trades every month. Furthermore, loyalty rate customers will also benefit by having the annual UK safe custody charge waived.
