We’re making an important change

We’ll be closing our London Strand branch permanently on Friday 2 September 2022.

The way savers access our products and services is continuing to change, and over a number of years we’ve seen a significant reduction in customers using our Strand branch.

Faced with increased operational costs, this location no longer offers good value for our members as a whole - something we’re dedicated to as a mutual.

So, after careful consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to close this branch.

Committed to a high street presence

We know that many of our customers value the friendly face-to-face service provided by our branch and agency colleagues. And with many of us now preferring to ‘stay local’, we remain firmly committed to providing this in local communities.

We have another 12 branches and agencies across Greater London, including our Kensington branch in central London, so if you live in the capital then an alternative branch or agency to Strand will often be less than five miles away from your home.

Although we’ll be closing the doors on our London Strand branch on 2 September 2022, there are many other ways you can manage your account(s).

In branch/agency

We appreciate that sometimes it’s easier to talk face-to-face. We’ve listed the six closest branches to Strand above, but you can call into any one of our YBS branches and agencies across the UK and be assured of the same great service. Managing your account online is quick, safe and convenient. It only takes a few minutes to register and you’ll have instant, secure access to your YBS accounts, anytime. You can:

  • View your savings or mortgage account(s).
  • Add funds to your savings account(s) using a debit card*.
  • Transfer between your savings accounts with YBS or to external savings accounts by Faster Payments*.
  • See details of your current mortgage including interest rate(s) and monthly payments.
  • Switch to a new mortgage deal online when your current mortgage deal ends.
  • Send us a secure message at any time and we’ll respond as soon as possible.

Mobile savings app

Once you’ve registered online you can download our mobile savings app and connect your account. You can view your balance and transactions and do many of the things you can with YBS online banking, whenever and wherever you need it.
