You can get three types of home insurance - buildings, contents or combined

You can also choose from a host of optional extras.

Buildings insurance

  • £1 million worth of cover, as standard.
  • Cover for your walls, roof, windows, and anything else that forms part of the structure of your home. This could include things like fixtures and fittings in your kitchen and bathroom.
  • Cover for your outbuildings, such as garages.
  • Cover for your driveway and patios.

Exclusions and limitations will apply. These can be found in your policy wording.

Contents insurance

  • £75k worth of cover, as standard.
  • Cover for items in your home that you could take with you if you moved house. This could include things like furniture, carpets and laptops.
  • Cover for the repair or replacement of the contents of your home if they are lost, stolen or damaged by something covered in your policy. This might include things like floods or fires.

Exclusions and limitations will apply. These can be found in your policy wording.

Optional extras

Looking for extra cover? You can choose from these extras:
  • Accidental damage cover protects you against unexpected sudden events.
  • It covers things like smashing a window with a ball or hammering a nail into a pipe. 
  • This cover could be great for families with young children, DIY lovers, or anybody looking for extra peace of mind.
  • You can choose accidental damage cover for your building, your contents, or both.

Examples of what’s not covered:

  • Storm damage to fences, hedges, and gates.
  • Damage caused by faulty workmanship, design, or materials.
  • Other exclusions and limitations will apply.
  • Any individual items, worth less than £2,500, that you take outside of your home are not covered with our policies. These include things like jewellery and mobile phones. If you want to insure these items, you will need to add personal belongings cover.
  • Individual items have a maximum claim limit of £2,500.
  • Includes cover for money in and away from home up to £1,000.
Mobile phones - £500
Personal money - £750
Credit cards - £1,000
If you want to cover items for more than these limits, you’ll need to specify them as ‘high risk items’.

Examples of what’s not covered:

  • Loss or damage caused by theft (or attempted theft) from an unattended motor vehicle.
  • Loss within the home of items which are not high risk.
  • Other exclusions and limitations will apply.
This cover is designed for theft, loss, or damage to individual items. It covers items worth more than £2,500.
You will need to specify these items to make sure they are fully covered.
Mobile phones are not covered as standard for loss or damage outside the home.
If you add personal belongings cover, mobile phones will be covered outside of the home, up to a value of £500.
If you wish, you can choose extra cover which covers mobile phones for more than £500.
All bicycles are covered as standard for loss or damage from within the home.
If you add personal belongings cover, all bicycles will be covered outside of the home, up to a value of £1,000. This also covers up to 60 days outside of Europe.
If you wish, you can choose extra cover which covers bicycles for more than £1,000.
  • This cover provides emergency assistance with a range of incidents around the home.
  • This includes a boiler breakdown, a blocked drain, or a burst pipe. The policy gives cover up to a value of £1,500 per claim. There’s no maximum limit on the number of claims you can make and no excess.

Examples of what’s not covered:

  • Blocked toilets or drains where the cause is a result of misuse. Or, when the problem is caused by the internal workings of the flush.
  • Boilers that are more than 15 years old.
  • Other exclusions and limitations will apply.
  • This provides legal cover and support for you and your family up to a value of £150,000.
  • It covers making a claim against someone else.
  • Things like employment disputes, personal injury, or property issues are covered.

Examples of what’s not covered:

  • Incidents that began before the policy start date.
  • Claims relating to anyone you live with or have previously lived with.
  • Other exclusions and limitations will apply.

In periods when properties have been impacted by storms, and we are experiencing high call volumes, you can notify us of a claim by completing the RSA New Claim Notification Form and returning it to rapid.hhclaims@uk.rsagroup.com.
If you have selected the Home Emergency option and require assistance, they can be contacted 24hrs/7 days – 365 days of the year.
