Yorkshire Building Society has been named as one of the top UK employers for building flexible, family friendly workplaces.
Large and small public and private sector organisations compete annually to gain a place on the list compiled by charity Working Families.
Yorkshire Building Society is named in the top 30 employers for the first time, alongside organisations such as Deloitte, Ernst & Young, American Express and the Bank of England.
Jane Hanson, Chief People Officer at Yorkshire Building Society, said:
It is a real honour and great achievement for the Society to be recognised as one of the UK’s most family friendly workplaces by Working Families. In May we launched an initiative called ‘Finding the Balance’ to introduce a new approach to family friendly and flexible working.
The initiative is about enabling life choices for all of our colleagues and we have invested in improving our family leave policies as well as redesigning our flexible working guidelines to take a more modern approach.
We developed Finding the Balance based on conversations with our colleagues that showed that improvements in family friendly and flexible working practices would make the Society an even better place to work.
Working Families is the UK’s leading work-life balance organisation. The charity helps working parents and carers and their employers give responsibilities at home and work a more equal focus.
