Look out for a change in the appearance of your YBS website soon. We are redesigning the site and will be launching the new website in the next few weeks.
Financial technology (FinTech) experts from across the region came together to share knowledge on how digital innovation can help to improve customer experience and fight financial crime.
The event, hosted at Yorkshire Building Society’s Leeds office, focused on how FinTech can be used to enhance how customers access their money, make online payments and interact with their building society or bank, while keeping them safe from fraudsters and cyber criminals.
Organised by Yorkshire Building Society and FinTech North, the event included presentations from industry watchdog the Financial Conduct Authority. Delegates heard from FinTech firms rebuildingsociety.com, TruNarrative, Recordsure and Cygnetise on how new technology is being used to protect customers.
West Yorkshire is one of the UK’s leading regions for innovation in financial services, with organisations attracted to the region’s pool of talent, low cost of living and transport links to other major cities.
Tom Simpson, Yorkshire Building Society’s Director of Compliance, said:
FinTech businesses in the region are at the cutting-edge of digital innovation. This was a fantastic opportunity for them to engage with professional services firms, the government and the Financial Conduct Authority, in order to understand how we can work together to better meet customers’ needs while protecting them from financial crime.
Technological innovation is one of the biggest influences on financial services and presents many opportunities to improve how we help and protect customers. It’s fantastic to see how the north is influencing this sector with pioneering technology. As a mutual organisation which has been based in West Yorkshire for more than a century and a half, we’re very keen to support this and embrace digital innovation to ensure we meet the needs and expectations of our members for the next 150 years.”
Julian Wells, Director at FinTech North and Whitecap Consulting, said:
We’re delighted to have had the opportunity to partner with Yorkshire Building Society on this compliance and RegTech event, which proved to be a highly popular topic within our community. FinTech North has now hosted nearly 30 events across the north and it is fantastic to see the regional FinTech economy prospering.
