Yorkshire Building Society has been named as one of the UK’s top ten family-friendly employers by independent work-life balance charity Working Families, for the third year running.

The Bradford-based mutual took one of the top spots alongside Imperial College London and Pinsent Masons as part of the charity’s list of Top Employers for Working Families.

Now in its fourteenth year, over 330,000 UK employees from employers across the public, private, and third sectors were assessed using Working Families’ Benchmark and scored on four key areas to build a comprehensive picture of their flexible and family-friendly policies and practices.

Susan Allen, chief executive at Yorkshire Building Society, said: “We’re really pleased to have retained a top spot in this recognised list for the third year running. It’s a great achievement and testament to the continued hard work our colleagues and Parents and Carers Network do to help make the Society a great place to work.

“We already have lots of great initiatives in place, but over the last year we’ve sought to expand those as part of our commitment to being a diverse, equitable and inclusive business. Offering flexibility and family friendly policies is an essential part of that - and it’s nice to have that recognised externally.”

Jane van Zyl, CEO of Working Families, said: “We are delighted with the standard of entries for this year’s Top Employers for Working Families list. These employers show they are leading the way in building family-friendly and flexible workplaces in the UK and are already ahead of the curve when it comes to implementing the changes needed to comply with the new flexible working legislation coming into practice next year. Almost nine out of ten of our Benchmark entrants are already offering flexible working as a day one right.”
