Let’s stay safe – video

Yorkshire Building Society is asking for customer support to enable its branch colleagues to help the customers who need their assistance the most.

In line with the latest government guidelines, branches should only be used for ‘essential transactions’. These include cash withdrawals for customers who don’t have ATM cards, paying money in to cover living expenses or bills and urgent Faster Payments.

To allow Yorkshire Building Society to keep branches open in as many communities as possible, the Society is reducing opening hours. Branches will now open between 9.30am and 2.30pm, Monday to Friday. If customers need to visit, they should check the website before leaving home to ensure the branch has been able to open.

Customers who want to carry out non-essential transactions, such as updating passbooks and asking general queries, are kindly asked not to use branches at this time to protect themselves and branch colleagues.

Many transactions can be done using the Society’s online services and customers should check the dedicated coronavirus hub on the Society’s website to see whether they can make their transaction online before going into branch. The hub can be found at www.ybs.co.uk/coronavirus-info and is being regularly updated as the situation develops.

Gary Fowler, Director of Branches and Distribution, said:

Our colleagues provide communities across the UK with essential financial services and are going to extraordinary lengths to continue to do this.

Our priority is the health and wellbeing of our customers and our colleagues. Please help them by staying at home if you aren’t well, using our online channels to make transactions where you can and only visiting branches when you absolutely need to.
