Charitable Foundation donates more than £84,000 in third quarter funding
Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation has donated £84,843 in the third quarter of 2021 as part of its support for charities across the UK.
The donations range between £250 to £2,000 and have been made to 55 charities across the country after they were nominated for funding by members and colleagues of Yorkshire Building Society.
One of the charities to receive funding was The Prince of Wales Hospice which received a £1,185 donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation after being nominated by colleagues from the Society’s Pontefract branch.
The donation has been used to fund an additional syringe driver which is essential to the specialist palliative medical care they offer adults with a progressive illness.
Jo Benson, Nurse Manager at The Prince of Wales Hospice, said:
Most patients will use a syringe driver whilst in the Hospice. These are battery powered pumps that administer continuous doses of medication avoiding repeated injections and are especially helpful for patients who are being sick or struggling to swallow. Some patients use two at once. Each has a lock box for safety. As they are in use by many patients on most days, we need to maintain a good supply. We are currently struggling to meet demand. We are really thankful for the donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation that will help us continue to provide our services.
Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference® scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest on their accounts just once a year to help smaller charities around the UK.
To date in 2021 the Charitable Foundation has donated £211,873 to 147 registered charities around the UK.
