Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is celebrating passing the £9million mark in donations to charities across the country.
The Charitable Foundation, which is largely made up by the Society’s customers agreeing to donate the pence of their annual interest, made its first donation in 1999 but thanks to the ongoing generosity of customers, has now reached the multi-million-pound milestone.
Jo Bottomley, community manager at Yorkshire Building Society, said:
The Charitable Foundation gives fantastic support to many charities, and I’m so pleased that good causes in communities local to our branches and agencies up and down the country have benefited over the years to be part of the amazing £9million total.
It’s a real privilege to have seen the donations make a difference locally and it’s thanks to the ongoing generosity of our members that we can continue to support the Charitable Foundation to donate incredible amounts of money – it shows small change really can make a big difference.
Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference® scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest on their accounts just once a year to help smaller charities around the UK.
